“Thanks to Emy, I overcame my rectocele problem”
We often speak about urinary leaks on this blog but today, it is about rectocele. Rectocele is the hernia formed by the rectum in the vagina. This hernia is usually, or almost exclusively observed during abdominal thrust but also at rest, because of gravity. Ghislaine had to face a rectocele 2 and a half years ago and it seems like Emy has relieved her symptoms significantly.
Here is her feedback:
Ghislaine, could you introduce yourself in a few words?
I am 53 years old; I have 2 children of around 20 years old and I have been married for 30 years now.
How I overcame my rectocele problem
For what reason have you started using Emy?
More than 2 years ago, I had a hysterectomy, followed by a vesicle removal. Following this surgery, and after a few years of constipation, I found myself with a rectocele. I first contacted a gastroenterologist who sent me to meet a surgeon in sight of another surgery. However, the surgeon didn’t want to operate me because he believed there were other solutions to try before. And this is how I heard about biofeedback pelvic floor rehabilitation.
So, I did pelvic floor rehabilitation sessions with a physiotherapist, which enabled me to get a toned pelvic floor; but to maintain it, I have to keep training it regularly. To do so, I started doing some research on the internet and this is how I discovered Emy. Since I have it, I can’t do without it anymore!
How did Emy help you?
Thanks to the device, I overcame my rectocele problem. I need the trainer every day, because when I skip a few sessions, I feel it right away. I decided to use it 3 times a week for 10 minutes. In addition, I think it is great being able to do my sessions on my sofa or in my bed. It doesn’t represent any constraint.
I even talk about it and recommend it to my colleagues and friends who have incontinence issues. As my gastroenterologist once said to me about Emy: “It is wonderful, we have something else than Tena pads to offer to women!”, and it is true that we can find other solutions than what advertisements has been offering for years!
The importance of the pelvic floor
What would you say to a person who suffers from a rectocele?
I would tell that person that there are solutions to try before heading to surgery. Also, I would add that it is important to be aware of our pelvic floor, and to take a good care of it.
